This is a dual IED that we hit yesterday(12 may 05) in Kirkuk Iraq. No US troops were injured or killed. There were however several civilian WIA and KIAs.

We were on a patrol in one of our sectors, and headed to our police station to pick up some Iraqi police for patrol. It was a 3 veh. patrol (US), I was commanding the 2nd vehicle in the order of march. We were passing a red vehicle parked on the side of the road, just like every other red veh we'd passed on the side of the road that day. It was parked about 100 meters away from our police station. Our lead veh. had just passed it and i was coming up on it. when i was about 7-8 meters from it, the fuckin thing just exploded. There was shit flyin everywhere. An unknown to me at that time, there was a second, slmost simultaneous explosion directly to my rear from a buried IED. The car had been packed with 4-5 155MM artillery shells, and the one to my rear was about 7 120MM morars, at least, those are the numbers that were pushed up. They were both remotely detonated with some sort of FM device. One 12 yr old girl was killed and a man working on his car about 200 meters aways was decapitated. Over all yesterday, there were eight IEDs found in our city, which is a huge jump for a single day, here anyways.
